Feast of Unleavened Bread

Exodus 12:14-20; 1 Cor 5:6-8

Why should I as a Gentile learn about these feasts?

What value are they to me personally and spiritually?

They are God’s blueprint for the future

Gives us great hope & great victory both for the present and for the future

OT - God’s plan concealed

NT - God’s plan revealed

God has revealed the future in His word.

Feast – mohed - a set or appointed time

Convocation - Mikrah – rehearsal or recital

A rehearsal of something that is to come

A rehearsal down to the last minute, the last second of an exact day

Of something to happen in the future

To know the future, you must master the past.

1st feast is Passover – redemption by blood. (Review the lamb)

There is only one redemption for man

The blood of Jesus Christ

Nothing else will do

7000 year plan for man. – Magnificent rehearsal

The Lord reigns.

The plan of the God of the universe and all mankind

We see it revealed in the feasts of the Lord

Leaven – the yeast beast.

Let me expose the yeast in you (by Pastor Hagee)

It is with great sadness today that I inform you of the death of the

Pillsbury dough boy – died of a yeast infection. Placed in a lightly greased coffin. Those that showed up for the memorial were Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch.

Aunt Jemima gave eulogy. The dough boy because of his yeast rose quickly in show business. Survived by his wife, Play Dough, and two children John Doe and Jane Doe. And by his elderly father – Pop Tart.

How many can identify with these characters?

How many of us love Krispie cream?

YES, The devil’s food - Yeast with sugar on it.

What is the difference between bread and unleavened bread?

Yeast (hot air, puffed up)

Yeast is put in dough to cause it to puff up.

The Bible talks about puffed up people – people with pride

God says to the church….If there is leaven in your church, life, in your marriage, etc. get it out because it will destroy everything it touches.

When we are full of ourselves, God has a ministry of pins to let that hot air out.

Are you one of those people?

When you talk, is it always about you?

A self-made person really relieves God of a lot of responsibility

You rely on yourself

You really don’t need God and His provisions

You can get it done yourself

Friends, Americans are full of this philosophy

We talked about the Fathers last week in the Passover teaching

Men, who are full of hot air, boast of running things around the house.

What he usually runs are the lawn mower, the vacuum cleaner, the dish washer!

The thing that makes bread puff up is yeast

Yeast in the Bible is sin born through pride, amongst other things Jesus warned in Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Paul in 1 Cor 5:6. Purge out the leaven in your life

Purge out means to find it , get it out and set it on fire

Get it out of your life, your marriage, your church, your job

Get it out because it will destroy your soul.

Jesus paints a portrait of pride in Luke 18:11,12 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

Pharisees pray praising themselves.

The arrogance of pride - Religious hot air - Full of leaven.

Matt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

We can instantly recognize pride and self-importance in other people

The man who brags about anything and everything is the poster child for pomposity (self-importance).

The woman who dresses or makes up to draw attention to her vanity

What once took a cotton gin a full day to make a woman’s dress now a silk worm can do on his lunch break.

Pride is the arrogant scholar who finds every opportunity to exhibit his mental superiority.

He worships his intellect. And he thus mocks the wisdom of God.

Paul said these people are ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth.

There is a difference in self esteem and pride.

Pride is self esteem at the expense of another person.

Pride lifts me up so I can look down on you

Pride is a spiritual cancer that devours families and marriages and churches and governments

PRIDE WILL KILL YOU!

Pride is rooted in idolatry because you worship yourself.

You don’t’ need your wife, your husband, your children

You don’t even need God. You’re in love with yourself

You are your own god. (Humanism)

Pride is the acid that turns every food sour.

Grows like weeds.

Consumes and kills everything it comes in contact with

Pride is basis of racism that divides the churches in America.

There is no such thing as the white church, the black church the red church or the yellow church in the Word of God.

There is only one church….The church of Jesus Christ….the church triumphant!

The first bait Satan ever used to destroy man was pride.

He came to Eve and said “would you like to be like God?”

Sure, I’d like to be like God – she tasted what he offered

Adam was no better as he fell to her voice and ate also

They suffered till the rest of their life because of the pride in their lives

How deadly is this?

A little drop of leaven will leaven 3 measures (9 gallons) of dough.

Once the process is started it can’t be stopped.

A tiny bit of sin will corrupt the whole body.

Once the process of pride is started it will not stop until it is purged out intentionally.

Prov 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Prov 16:18-19 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Followed satan in his rebellion against God

Nebuchadnezzar – pride pulled him down

Pharoah – reduced to fish food (who is the lord that I should obey him

Pharisees – religious rebels

Herod the king

Pride will destroy marriage, mind, children, future

Get it out because it will kill you

1 Cor 5:6 – Purge out the old leaven – set it on fire

Jew on Passover – explain looking for leaven

It was a "type" of sin their lives.

God said if I find leaven you will be cut off from Israel – you will be killed.

Why would God say that?

Zero tolerance of sin, zero tolerance of pride.

Pride and arrogance will destroy you – get it out.

False doctrine in a church

There are those that deny the virgin birth

Those that deny there is a heaven or a hell

Snap one link in the gospel chain and you weaken the whole chain The whole system of truth becomes corrupted.

The toleration of sin in the church soon leads to the excusing of it

Then the indulgence of it

Then it leads to commit an even greater sin

Causing a downward spiral straight to the gates of hell

God sets the example in the Old Testament

No sin, not one gram of leaven is to be found in your house

And if it’s found in your house, that house is to be cut off from Israel

America’s leaven is destroying this nation

Homosexuals are now being ordained (bishop, pastors in the church) God calls it sin - God calls it leaven

God calls it an abomination - God calls it poison

But America is embracing it under the banner of inclusion

You can call it what you want - God calls it sin!

There is a yeast infection in the soul of Americans

The bible calls it leaven

The Passover meal – began in Exodus still observed today

3 pieces of unleavened bread brought to the table

Represent the Father, Son & Holy Ghost

The piece in the middle represents the son was broken in half

Placed in a napkin by mother and hidden in the home

After the meal the child who found it was given a very, very special gift Filled with typology of Christ

Christ was born in Bethlehem

Bethlehem means the house of bread because Jesus Christ was born as the bread of life

He was broken on Calvary and was buried in the napkin of the grave clothes

He was hidden in the tomb of Joseph of Arimethea

Those who search for Christ have found the most precious gift.

Eph 4:7-8 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

What gifts

Romans 6:23 – Eternal life, everything that heaven has to offer

Romans 5:12 – the gift of grace – have you sinned greatly?

Do you feel you are beyond redemption, you don’t deserve salvation

The bible says where sin abounds grace did much more abound

The grace of God is greater than all your sin.

Eph 2 – the gift of faith. Faith starts out before you know how it will turn out

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

1 Cor 12 The gift of wisdom, knowledge, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues..

Many of you are searching for peace but it cannot be found

You are searching in the wrong places.

Peace cannot be found in a prescription, a bottle, or a night club

But if you’ll search for Christ you will find what you are looking for

He will give you peace the world cannot offer for it is a gift of God.

The feast of unleavened bread was kept for 7 days

They ate unleavened bread for 7 days

1 bite of Krispie Kreme would separate them from the blessings of God God said search for leaven and when you find it purge it out with fire

John the revelator says Rev 3:18 – buy of me gold tried by fire.

God purges sin out of your life by fire.

Gold is put in the refiner’s fire until it melts and then bubbles

Then the impurities of the gold come to the top and skimmed off

The gold is placed back in the fire again and again until it becomes pure The goldmaster continues until he can see his face in the gold.

Jesus will stop putting you in the fire when He can pull your life to Him and see the image of his glorious self in your face.

God is trying to get you to transform to be like His son

Don’t look at the person living next to you, or sitting next to you or running this church and say “I’m as good as they are because THEY are not the example for holiness".

Christ is our example, not each other.

This meal was celebrated with 4 cups

Jesus kept the Passover.

He kept every one of the seven feasts as did Paul

In Luke 22:17 it records Christ and the disciples at the last supper

From the time that the feasts were implemented, the last supper was the last time you could eat leavened bread

After that you could only eat unleavened bread for 7 days

It had nothing to do with that being their last time together.

1st cup – a cup of wine – the cup of blessing - 1 Cor 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?

When you receive Holy Communion you receive every blessing the Lord has for you in the Word of God.

Abundance, heath, healing, forgiveness, peace of mind, protection from satanic power, physical protection where God’s angels go before you

One of the most powerful things you can do is to take Holy Communion and receive the blessings of our Lord

2nd Cup – the cup of wrath – it was not drunk, it was poured out on the table Just as the plagues were poured out on nation of Egypt.

Jesus drank this cup for you on Calvary.

This cup contained our sin, our sickness, our suffering.

He drank it to the last bitter drop.

He became the scapegoat for you and I

If you dont accept Jesus as savior, you must drink the cup of God’s wrath

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men

2 Thess 1:7-9 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

3rd cup - the cup of salvation – Ps 116:13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

Are you saved? Not a church member or church attender, baptized. You can have an emotional experience without accepting Jesus. Romans 6:23. Are you washed in the blood of Jesus Christ?

If not you must pay the price. Sin demands death.

4th cup – the cup of the Messiah – Jesus refused this cup on the cross – Matt 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Jesus told the disciples you drink this cup.

If he had drank it then he would be telling the disciples I am ready to be the Messiah right now.

He could only drink the cup when he was comes to His kingdom.

I will drink it with you when I come again, when I sit on David’s throne and of that kingdom there will be no end.

Paul said in 1 Cor 11:28 - Let a man examine himself.

Search every corner for every form of unleavened bread

Every form of pride, every form of sin. Sin will never enter heaven

Christ is our standard of holiness and purity

The Word spells out the standard

If you see sin, pride, arrogance, self righteousness in your life – GET IT OUT! If you see it in your marriage, business or children, GET IT OUT! Because it will destroy you.

Walk in the beauty of holiness

Jesus said be ye holy for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:16.
